The Roaches

Memories from a trip to Keswick - 2005

We hired the Britannia Keswick flat for the week and hoped that the weather would do us proud.

Unfortunately we suffered from low cloud for most of the week but we had very little rain which was welcome relief from the previous trips to the Lakes.

Alison, Dave and Ratboy at the Styhead Tarn stretcher box.

We walked from Seathwaite and headed up to Sprinkling Tarn from where we descended into Grains Gill and back to Seathwaite.

A ghostly light on Scafell Pike. The cloud remained at the 2000ft level for most of the day so this is about as good as it got.

The cross on Fleetwith Pike. This was erected in July 2004 to celebrate Dave's successful completion of the West Highland Way.

Only kidding - it's there in memoriam of Fanny Mercer who died in a fall in 1887. Should be more careful love.

Buttermere from the cross. We walked from Buttermere village itself and headed back before the rain came in.

Shit! - Ratboy gets us lost near Coledale hause. We had missed the turn off for Grisedale Pike and were heading for Crag Hill so back we went.

Coming out of the cloud whilst descending from Grisedale Pike. This was probably the best view we saw during the week.
