The Roaches

Memories from a trip to Keswick - 2007

Dave Swarbs and Alison decided to take on the mighty Latrigg whilst Sean, Macca, Mike, Ann, Gordon and Jane continued on the path from Keswick to the summit of Skiddaw.

June 2007 - The team wait for Jane and Macca - again! Disaster struck as Gordon's boots decided to split. Would they last the day? Would Jane have to carry him as well as the rucsac?

June 2007 - Macca gave me a tenner on the previous night for getting this shot of Mike's arse. An enlarged version (of the photo) can be seen on Macca's bedroom wall.

June 2007 - Macca decided to wear the same clothing as that used for the first ascent of Skiddaw.... ...in 1973 by Larry Grayson. Derwent Water is just visible in the background.

June 2007 - Mike approaching the summit of Skiddaw (3054 ft). Alison and Dave had just reached the top of the cafe steps in George Fisher's. Skiddaw Little Man is the smaller peak visible behind Mike.

Feb 2007 - A brave sole ascent of Skiddaw by yours truly (without oxygen) was undertaken in appalling conditions. Many large rocks had died on the summit as shown in this truly terrifying shot.

Feb 2007 - this shot was taken the day before the previous shot of Skiddaw summit. Mike and Sean decided to conquer Great Gable from Seathwaite via Styhead. As you can see the weather was superb.

Mike can be seen actually RUNNING up Great Gable - a fact not obvious in the above shot.

Feb 2007 - Wastwater from the summit of Great Gable (2949 ft). Yewbarrow is the peak seen centre right.

Pillar and Ennerdale from the summit of Great Gable. The High Stile ridge can is visible on the right.

A wide shot of the view westwards from the summit of Great Gable.

Feb 2007 - Meanwhile, an even wider shot. Dave was in action on the Keswick flat settee.
