The Roaches

Memories from the Scotland walking trip - 2000

May 2000 was a good expedition with generally good weather throughout apart from a lousy day on Ben Nevis. The main aims were to complete the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe and the Five Sisters in Glen Shiel.

'Ratboy' and Terence on the summit of Sgurr na Ciste Dubh (Peak of the Black Chest : 1027m)

Terence breaks the world 'pole - rucsac' fitting record by asking 'Ratboy' to out them back for the 129th time on Sgurr Fhuaran - Glen Shiel (Meaning unknown : 1068m)

A snowstorm coming from the west. The peak in the distance is Sgurr Fhuaran.

A classic shot of legless hillwalkers. This shot was taken by a New Zealander who was tackling the Five Sisters on his day off from being a barman.

This shot shows Terence asking the New Zealander why he made such an arse of the previous photograph. As can be clearly seen the New Zealander is about to punch Terry very hard in the face.

Looking back to the Five Sisters from the western end of the ridge. The final descent from Sgurr na Moraich, the final peak in the range, involved frantic scrambling down a steep face of rock and heather before finally heading over a deer fence and over Mr and Mrs MacDougal's garden.

'Ratboy' looking for Pogles Wood from Am Bodach - Glencoe (The Old Man : 943m)

Terence calming himself down after traversing the 'Crazy pinnacles' on the Aonach Eagach - Glencoe.

Looking west along the Aonach Eagach.
